                                   General Chemistry

                                                 (UCSC Chem 1A, 1B, and 1C)

General Chemistry series are introductory classes for freshmen with chemistry emphases. Topics cover stoichiometry, basic inorganic chemistry, basic thermodynamics, basic kinetics, atomic structures and molecular bondings (introductory level). These courses are pre-requisites for most advanced chemistry courses.

Resources

  • pH Evaluations: an extensive discussion on how to calculate pH values of aqueous solutions in a variety of situations.
  • An activity for Chem 1B active learning sections (hydrogen peroxide decomposition kinetics)
  • Chlorine gas problem set for "Balancing Redox Reactions" activity.
